We envision a world in which every abused or neglected child has a chance to thrive.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) are court-appointed volunteers that advocate for a child’s best interest. Our goal is to ensure all children have a safe, permanent home through advocacy, support, and empowerment.

  • Advocate.

Advocating for children in the family court system is one of the most important jobs a CASA volunteer has. We provide a voice for vulnerable children by getting to know them and the important people in their lives. We then provide the court with recommendations based on the best interests of the children we serve.

  • Support.

CASA volunteers support children as they navigate the court system. We are often the one constant they have as they transition between homes. We provide a shoulder to lean on and a nonjudgmental ear to listen. We ensure their needs are met during this stressful time in their lives.

  • Empower.

CASA empowers children by providing them a consistent, dedicated advocate who ensures their voice is heard and their best interests are represented. This boosts a child’s confidence and self-worth. We listen, validate their experiences, and encourage them to believe in their own future.

So, how do we do it?
With help from people like you!

  • Gather information: Gather documents; interview the children, family members and professionals in their lives.

  • Research: Review the court records and information gathered.

  • Document findings: Provide a written report for court hearings.

  • Appear in court: Advocate for the child’s best interests and testify in court when necessary.

  • Recommend services: Identify and advocate for services for the child.

  • Monitor case plans and court orders: Check to see that plans are being followed.

  • Stay engaged: Visit the child regularly, and help the child understand the court proceedings and decisions until the child is in a safe, permanent home.

  • Keep the court informed: Update the court on development with agencies and family members.
